gate. A 7-year-old boy has been killed in a dog attack.
A father has recounted how his son's clothes were torn off as he was killed in a dog attack.
The 7-year-old boy was walking in his neighborhood with his brother on Sunday when he was mauled by at least one dog, Marion County Sheriff's Office, South Carolina, said in a Facebook post.
The brother managed to escape.
The sheriff's office, coroner, animal control and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating the boy's death.
Sheriff Brian Wallace told ABC affiliate WPDE on Monday that officials were actively seeking the dogs and their possible owner.
After the attack, Marion County Animal Control seized five mixed breed adult dogs from a property. That figure was updated to six on Tuesday, according to WPDE.
Father Carnell Jackson named the victim as his son Shemar Sherif Jackson. Appearing to hold back tears, he told WMBF News: "You watch him come out of his mother, I cut his umbilical cord."
Before his son was attacked, Jackson said he and his three sons were looking for their escaped pet chihuahua, Remi.
