What is most remarkable is the defense gun use defuses a potentially violent situation 99% of the time. And compare that number to the amount of times guns are used in crimes... I will give you credit though. Gun nuts generally cherry-pick the most debunked studies out there, like the one from the 90s that claimed Americans used guns defensively 2.5 million times in a year. You tried to pick more reasonable, accurate estimates, which is a step up from the NRA clowns. and gun free zones stop evil people from using guns. gotcha. Keep drinking that kool aide. Gun free zone are undermined when gun sellers in surrounding areas are willing to flood those places with weapons regardless of the attempts of the people in those areas to try and make changes to protect themselves.
Adam Baker Airports are pretty effective gun free zones. It requires a certain level of investment and determination to have. If anyone did that, they'd see the whole picture. That doesn't help your arguments. Debunked is too strong. The 2.7 million number has been challenged, but hardly disproven. Just different methodologies. The 2.7 million number came from creditable criminologists who stand behind their method. The great thing about gun grabbers is that you don't have to argue with them. They can come try to take them or they can close their mouths. Their move.
And before you say "hurr the gubmint will do it for me" ... no it won't. The law may be passed, but you're gonna find out real fast that the military isn't going to follow that order. Your tiny collection of old people in a chamber won't be able to enforce your tyranny, bringing me back to my original point... Come take. The actual number of defensive gun uses isn't necessarily easy to determine as a large number of incidents go unreported. Therefore the 2.5 million number that was gathered in a legitimate study could very well be accurate. And my guess is you didn't even read the article as the "debunked" study is mentioned in it and included in the data. I used a gun to defend myself against a group of attackers and never fired a shot. It happened during daylight hours in a suburban parking lot.
Bad guys don't want to get shot. It's not what they signed up for. Low hanging fruit, easy pickings, the defenseless: that is what they look for and who they prey on. That's why the sound of a round being jacked or the appearance of a firearm in the hands of a good man or woman, more often than not, sends them scattering. Friends who know I carry have asked, “Are you just going to shoot somebody if they try to rob you?” I tell them that I hope not! I hope that drawing my firearm scares them away. Studies have shown that legal firearm owners are slow to open fire in defensive situations. We don’t want to kill anyone, we just want to live.
