It also has a nice big pocket for storage which most other brands do not. great that doggie goes hiking too. Wonder, though, if the “bouncing” movement of walking causes a “rubbing friction” ( for lack of precise terminology) under doggies’ armpit? I have not noticed the backpack rubbing under her arms. She is also able to sit in the pack with her arms in and only her head poking out. Can you wear that in the front? I have one I wear in the front but to hard to put him in. not sure. It is an Eddie Bauer For Pets product. We actually found it at a flea market, so I’m not sure if it is a current product. We like it because it has a semi-hard bottom zip storage compartment and a little roll up window on one side. Seems like the K9 sport sack is a favorite! I recommend it as well. My dude weighs 20lbs and we use a medium.
My doxie could hike over 18 miles on his own. Of course he was a rock star, but he wasn't as tired as I was after a hike. Also if he said "we are NOT hiking that tail" I listened. He saved my life this way several times. you need to hike him on shorter hikes to start with. Omar, my doxie started by with 2 miles at 6wks old. He would only make 1/2 mile to start with. Then when he could do 2 miles we did 3. By the time he was 3 yrs old he was out hiking me. I loss him at the age of 12yrs about 7yrs ago. No other dog has been as good a hiking companion as he was. He is becoming a good little buddy. He owns me. Every night he bags me for a drive. So my truck was in the shop and lastnight I needed to take him out for a “cruise” so I put him in the Back pack. He loved it. When he gets tired you can see he wants to still be going. But I want to give him a break. I hike with 30lb on my back usually. So I am totally ok with having him take a break on me!
We bought these for our doxies and they are great..but it was still uncomfortable for one of ours. She was way too long to have her head out the side window. I need one too!!
