We are VERY thankful for Walmart and I am greatly relieved to know now that they receive very little in the way of subsidies. I have been a supporter of FEE for a long time, but I'm really sorry to see them participating in the Wal-Mart propaganda machine. I'm not for government interference but I'm also not for minimizing the very real impact that WalMart has on local businesses. People who vote for WalMart with their dollars are often very much like those who voted for Barack Obama-- they have no idea what they're really voting for. Being against WalMart is not anti-capitalist. It's pro small to medium business.
Wal-mart annihilates jobs. All those unhappy people you see in their little blue smocks working for minimum wage replace all the small businesses and their employees whenever a wal-mart moves in. That is why many communities have blocked wal-mart completely. I support FEE, but I will never spend another nickel at a Wal-Mart. Their cut-throat methods with suppliers has caused more than one company to manufacture entire new lines of inferior products (with the original brand so that consumers won't know the difference) because they can't absorb Wal-Mart's mandatory annual 5% price cuts. Additionally, we've seen long-time family-run businesses suffer because it's nearly impossible to compete when PRICE is the only thing people care about
